The embassy in Washington, D.C. is the diplomatic representation of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to the United States of America, the United Mexican States and Canada.

Mexico*: The embassy of Belgium  for short stay visas only. Any other matter is to be addressed to our Embassy in DC or our Consulates General in New York and San Francisco

Canada*: The embassy of Belgium  for short stay visas only. Any other matter is to be addressed to our Embassy in DC or our Consulates General in New York and San Francisco

*Luxembourg citizens residing either in Mexico or in Canada who must get a new passport shall either go to our embassy in Washington, one of our consulates general in San Francisco or New York or back to Luxembourg city since the taking of fingerprints is mandatory.

For Luxembourg citizens in extreme emergency situation, please contact the nearest consulate, or  honorary consulate and by default the embassy of Belgium in Mexico or Ottawa to get a laissez-passer allowing you to return to Luxembourg.

The consulate in Washington, D.C. has local jurisdiction over the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia, and global jurisdiction over the United States of America. 

The residents of the following States can refer to our General Consulates located in New York City and in San Francisco as indicated here below;

Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico,Oregon, Utah, Washington: The Consulate General of Luxembourg in San Francisco  for visas and passports.

Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont: The Consulate General of Luxembourg in New York  for visas and passports.
