Amazon is the 2018 recipient of the Luxembourg-American Business Award that was celebrated on May 15th, 2018 during a ceremony organized by the  Luxembourg American Chamber of Commerce (LACC). The award ceremony took place in New York in the presence of Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Guillaume and Crown Princess Stéphanie, and of the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Economy, H.E. The biennial Luxembourg-American Business Award recognizes North-American companies established in the Grand Duchy for their important role in and their lasting contribution to the Luxembourg economy. Amazon is a global player in e-commerce and cloud computing with European headquarters in Luxembourg employing some 2000 people. Amazon is the first service provider and non-manufacturer to receive the honor since the award’s inception in 1999. Past honorees include the Goodyear Rubber & Tire Company, DuPont, Guardian Industries, Avery Dennison Corporation, Husky Injection Molding Systems, Delphi Corp., Airtech Advanced Materials Group and Ampacet Corporation.

To celebrate the long-standing engagement and the 50th anniversary of its presence in Luxembourg, the Miami University (Ohio) received an Honorary Business Award for its proven excellence in creating ties between the US and the Grand Duchy in academia as well as in the economic sphere. Since 1968, Miami University has a learning center in Luxembourg - the Miami University John E. Dolibois European Center (MUDEC) - that offers students the opportunity to enroll in Miami classes taught by Europe- and Ohio-based Miami faculty and thus fostering academic, economic and institutional collaborations between the US and Luxembourg.
