Ambassador Sylvie Lucas presents Letters of Credence to the Governor General of Canada

On November 21st, 2016, Ambassador Sylvie Lucas presented her Letters of Credence to His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada.
During the credentialing ceremony at Rideau Hall, the Governor General highlighted the long and friendly relations that exist between Luxembourg and Canada, dating back to the Second World War when the Luxembourg royal family sought refuge in Canada. He noted that Luxembourg and Canada today partner in a number of ways, including in NATO and La Francophonie. The Governor General further stressed the strong and dynamic working relationship that Luxembourg and Canada have maintained for more than 70 years, including in trade and investment. He pointed out that by the end of 2015, Luxembourg was in fact the third largest source of foreign direct investment in Canada. The Governor General expressed his confidence that “… Luxembourg and Canada will continue to find new avenues of co-operation as we look to the future…”.
