You say EU DAY? Come and discover Luxembourg
What is the EU DAY?
On May 9, 1950 French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman published a declaration, prepared with the help of Jean Monnet, calling on Germany and Fracne to pool their coal and steel production as the "first concrete foundation of a European federation". The approach in htat declaration was one of harnessing economics to transcend ancient political conflicts. It remains at the heart of the European Union's work and has inspired teh Union's continuing enlargement to include the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
Like all the Embassies of the European Union (EU) in Washington, DC, the embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg will – in what has become an important annual event for Washington, DC, – open its doors to the Washington public on Saturday May 9, from 10:00am to 4:00pm, offering a rare look inside the building and providing a unique opportunity to experience Luxembourg .
