“Cowboy” by Luxembourg filmmaker Frédéric Zeimet at the DC Shorts Film Festival

Published Wednesday August 28 2019

The Embassy of Luxembourg is proud to announce that this year's edition of the DC Shorts International Film Festival selection will include Luxembourg filmmaker Frédéric Zeimet’s latest production, Cowboy (2018) .

Written and directed by Zeimet, the short film (23 minutes) tells the story of Joachim, an eight-year old boy who befriends a rather unusual character: a cowboy. The cowboy is a stout fellow with a good sense of humor and, most importantly, someone who is able to console Joachim. Philippe, Joachim’s father, ignores his son’s grief. He is unable to communicate with Joachim and explain what happened to the boy's mother. There is, however, a twist: the cowboy does not exist in real life. He comes straight out of Joachim’s imagination.

Frédéric Zeimet studied History of Art and Archaeology as well as Screenwriting/Script doctoring in Brussels. His final History of Art essay analyzed the photographic work by Wim Wenders. In addition, he worked with Luc Dardenne to complete his final essay on Screenwriting.

Two screenings of Cowboy are scheduled at the Festival:

  • Sunday, September 22 at 12:00 p.m. (E Street Cinema – Theater A)
  • Thursday, September 26 at 5:15 p.m. (E Street Cinema – Theater B)

The 2019 edition of DC Shorts Film Festival will take place from September 19 – 28.
