Luxembourg ranks 2nd of 141 countries in Cisco’s “Digital Readiness Index 2019”.

Published Tuesday January 28 2020

Earlier this month, Cisco, the worldwide information and communication technologies giant, published its “Digital Readiness Index 2019”, measuring countries’ digital readiness and discovering key interventions that can help countries move up in their digital readiness journey. This readiness is defined using “a holistic model based on seven components, including technology infrastructure and technology adoption, ease of doing business, human capital development, business and government investment, basic human needs and the start-up environment, and was applied to 141 countries, with scores ranging on a scale from 0 to 25.” The scores were based on standardized datapoints from reputable data sources, such as the World Bank, the World Economic Forum, the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, the World Health Organization and others, and summed to create a total digital readiness score.
In the general ranking of 141 countries, Luxembourg scores 19.54 points and ranks 2nd, behind Singapore (20.26) and in front of the United States (19.03), Danemark (18.98), Switzerland (18.86) and the Netherlands (18.66). In the seven individual categories, Luxembourg scores especially well in “Start-Up Environment” (1st of 141), in “Technology Adoption” (3rd) and in "Business and Government Investment” (4th).Detailed information can be found here.
