The Luxembourg Embassy celebrates la Francophonie with a concert by the Reis-Demuth-Wiltgen Jazz trio

Published Thursday March 23 2017

In the context of the DC Francophonie Festival, the Luxembourg Embassy hosted an evening of jazz with the Luxembourg trio of Michel Reis, piano, Paul Wiltgen, drums, and – in replacement of Marc Demuth – Dan Loomis, bass. The RDW trio performed pieces from their second album, “Places in Between”, which was recorded in 2016.
20 March was the International Day of la Francophonie. Around this date, the 220 million French-speakers around the world celebrate the cultural diversity and the richness of the French language that they share.
In the US Capital region, more than 40 embassies and partners (including Alliance Française DC and the Smithsonian Associates) have come together since 2001 to organize the DC Francophonie Festival, with 4 weeks of cultural events and outreach activities. This year, participating countries include Austria, Belgium, Benin, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Cameroon, Canada, Chad, Côte d’Ivoire, Croatia, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, France, Gabon, Greece, Haiti, Iran, Laos, Lebanon, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mali, Mauritania, Monaco, Morocco, Niger, Québec, Romania, Rwanda, Senegal, Slovenia, South Africa, Switzerland, Togo, Tunisia, and the United States.
