A New Bus Route to the Luxembourg American Cemetery

On June 22, 2020, the Luxembourg Public Transport System added a bus route between Luxexpo, in the Kirchberg quarter of Luxembourg City, and the Luxembourg American Cemetery, in Hamm, just outside the cityThe bus runs every hour, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and facilitates access to one of Luxembourg favorite sights, consisting of 17 acres of uniform lawn, dotted with more than 5,000 white stone crosses, marking the graves of American soldiers who lost their lives during the Second World War.

The cemetery, also home to a beautiful chapel, is surrounded by 33.5 acres of woods, making it peaceful and conducive to reflection and contemplation.  It is General George S. Patton Jr.’s last resting place.  General Patton played a key role in defeating the German counterattack in the Battle of the Bulge, effectively ending German rule in Luxembourg.
