During a press conference on 10 May 2021, Luxembourg's Minister of the Economy, Franz Fayot, announced that the US glassmaker Guardian will invest in a new environmentally friendly and technologically modern float glass production line, with the support of the Luxembourg Ministry of the Economy.
The company’s existing furnace will be replaced from the end of next year by a cutting-edge sustainable and technologically advanced installation. The new facility is designed to improve energy efficiency as well as the overall environmental performance of float glass production, significantly reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions. All activities will be concentrated on the company’s Bascharage site.
“Guardian's investment in a state-of-the-art production facility is part of our economic policy to support the continued development of a high added value industry that consumes less energy and is more respectful of the environment,” Fayot said.
