A virtual event, gathering together all Luxembourg Honorary Consuls across the US, Canada, Central America and the Caribbean, took place on 26 January 2021. The meeting was opened by Ambassador Gaston Stronck, who welcomed the participants and expressed his gratitude for the Consuls’ continuing commitment and assistance, especially during the Covid-19 crisis. Jeanne Crauser, Consul general in New York, and Pierre Frank, Consul general in San Francisco, also intervened with updates from their respective jurisdictions.
Stan Myck, Consul in Washington D.C., gave an update on consular affairs, including yearly figures of consular services provided in 2020, as well as information on current travel restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Robert Jarvis, Head of US & Canada Desk - Luxembourg for Finance (LfF) gave a comprehensive presentation on the Luxembourg Financial Center and its relations with the United States. Stefan Berend, Head of start-up acceleration - LuxInnovation, made an introduction to the start-up ecosystem in Luxembourg. Mike Ansay, Honorary Consul in Wisconsin, talked about the Luxembourg Fund initiative.
The event concluded with a Q&A session and with the announcement of the next virtual conference in June 2021.
