World Press Freedom Day

Every year, 3 May is a date, which celebrates the fundamental principles of press freedom and provides the opportunity to evaluate press freedom around the world, to defend the media from attacks on their independence and to pay tribute to journalists who have lost their lives in the exercise of their profession. This year’s World Press Freedom Day is an opportunity for the international community to reaffirm the importance of cherishing information as a public good.

Reporters Without Borders have recently issued the 2021 World Press Freedom Index report, which comprises a summary of global trends as well as of the situation of media freedom in each region in the respective year. The report places Luxembourg 20th in the list, out of the 180 countries ranked by the organization.
