March of Diekirch award ceremony at the Luxembourg Embassy in Washington
The Luxembourg Embassy in Washington welcomed soldiers from the 125th Cyber Protection Battalion, S.C. Army National Guard, deployed to Fort George G. Meade, Md, who had taken on the challenge to participate in the 2022 edition of the ‘Marche Internationale de Diekirch’, which was held remotely, allowing people from all over the US to participate.
The March, originally organized by the Luxembourg Army in 1968, is held every year in Luxembourg. The hard earned and rewarding medal is awarded to those who complete the 20K, 40K or even 80K distance and is authorized for soldiers to accept and wear on their dress uniforms. Ambassador Nicole Bintner-Bakshian congratulated the 18 participants who joined more than 250.000 people having accomplished the March in its over 50-year history.
The 2023 edition of the ‘Marche Internationale de Diekirch’ will take place on 3-4 June 2023 in the usual manner through the rolling terrain of the Ardennes Forest in northern Luxembourg.
