EU Open House at the Embassy of Luxembourg

If you live in the Washington DC area, normally you have to cross the Atlantic to visit Luxembourg. On Saturday, May 13, however, all Washingtonians had to do was to cross the street! The Embassy of Luxembourg opened its doors to the public for a day of culture, food, music and more, within the annual EU Open House initiative.

Over 1400 visitors were challenged to take a fun quiz, strike a pose in our photobooth, discover Fabrizio Maltese’s glamourous photo exhibition of Hollywood celebrities and take a VR trip to space thanks to Luxembourgish satellite telecommunications network provider SES. The journey around Luxembourg culminated by savoring Ramborn delicious cider and juice, imported to the United States by Ansay International, and everyone could satisfy their sweet cravings with cookies and chocolate by Ferrero, whose worldwide headquarters are located in Luxembourg.

This year, Luxembourg also partnered with the Embassies of Belgium and the Netherlands for an EU Open House Benelux edition to showcase the three countries’ history, culture, technological advancements and culinary delights. Visitors had the opportunity to learn about Luxembourg’s rose heritage through a beautiful rose installation and a presentation by Rose Heritage Association of Luxembourg, as well as get acquainted with SES new cutting-edge communications satellite system O3b mPower, among other activities. Visitors also savored Luxembourg sausage, as well as a range of Luxembourg wines from Domaine Vinsmoselle.

Villmools Merci to everyone who came to visit us! Looking forward to seeing you again next year!
