Honoring a Legacy: Glenn Doman’s Final Salute at Arlington

We are deeply grateful to Erik Doman for the honor of joining in the heartfelt last farewell to his grandfather, Glenn Doman, and his beloved wife, laid to rest together at Arlington National Cemetery last Wednesday.

Glenn was not just any WWII veteran, but to Luxembourg, he was one of the heroes of the 87th Infantry Division who fought the Germans during the famous Battle of the Bulge in December 1944. This battle was the last major German offensive on the Western Front and took place in the Ardennes Forest in Belgium and Luxembourg. The American soldiers of the 87th Infantry Division will forever remain in Luxembourger’s hearts for having freed Luxembourg from German occupation in January 1945.

For his heroic actions in battle, Glenn was awarded the prestigious “Croix de Guerre” by H.R.H. The Grand Duchess Charlotte in 1946.

Glenn was not only a valiant soldier, but he was also a physical therapist and went on to become a pioneer in children’s education. He authored numerous books in the field of child brain development. His overarching passion was to make the world a better place by educating children.

Our new consul, Jenna Liberatore, was humbled to be part of this touching ceremony. Glenn was a great example for courage and unwavering dedication. He helped shape the freedom we cherish today in Luxembourg and in Europe. We will forever carry his memory, as well as that of thousands of American soldiers, in our hearts, honoring their sacrifices and legacy.
